Saab serves the global market with world-leading products, services and solutions from military defence to civil security. With operations on every continent, Saab continuously develops, adapts and improves new technology to meet customers’ changing needs.
Its most important markets today are Europe, South Africa, Australia and the US. Saab has around 13,000 employees. Annual sales amount to around SEK 24 billion, of which research and development account for about 20 per cent of sales.

Saab competes in an international market, which requires a strong international presence. Therefore, Saab has established market areas around the world. They are:

- Europe & Greater Middle East;
- Saab Market Area Europe and Greater Middle East covers over 30 countries. The Market Area headquarter is based in London, United Kingdom.
- sub-Saharan Africa;
- The Market Area spans across 48 countries with diverse cultural, political and economical situations. It is based in Centurion, South Africa
- India;
- The Market Area Head Office is located in New Delhi, India
- Asia Pacific.
- Saab products are in use in a number of countries in the region, for example Korea, Japan, China (AIS), Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. The Market Area Head Office is located in Bangkok, Thailand.
Saab’s common sales and marketing functions are also divided into geographical market areas. The purpose of the Market Areas is to create a stronger local presence and increase focus on the customer.
Business areas
Saab has divided operations into six business areas: Aeronautics, Dynamics, Electronic Defence Systems, Security and Defence Solutions, Support and Services and the independent subsidiary Combitech.
- Aeronautics
- Aeronautics offers advanced airborne systems, related subsystems, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), aerostructures and services to defense customers and commercial aerospace industries worldwide. Aeronautics is also responsible for development, production, marketing, selling and supporting of the Gripen fighter.
- Dynamics
- Dynamics offers ground combat weapons, missile systems, torpedoes, sensor systems, unmanned underwater vehicles and signature management systems for armed forces as well as remotely operated vehicles and security systems for the offshore industry and nuclear power plants.
- Electronic Defence Systems
- We have more than 50 years experience of EW and radar development and 3,000 radars are delivered worldwide. Within avionics we offer world class systems for Control & monitoring, Recording, Mission computing including video and graphics, and Communication’s Management.
- Security and Defence Solutions
- Business area Security and Defence Solutions offers C4ISR systems, Airborne Early Warning System, Civil Security systems and solutions, Training and simulation, as well as Telecom carrier and power solutions.
- Support and Services
- Business area Support and Services offers Integrated Support Solutions, Maintenance, Logistics and Technical Support, Field Facilities and Regional Aircraft Support.
