On May 12th, 2026, he Hellenic-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Athens, had the pleasure of hosting a Business Breakfast at the Residence of the Ambassador of Sweden.
We were honored to welcome Thanasis Kontogeorgis as keynote speaker, who addressed the timely theme:
“Greece and Europe 2030: Paving the Way for the New European Budget for Resilient and Balanced Growth.”
The event opened with welcome remarks by the Chairman of the Chamber, George Georgakopoulos, and H.E. Hakan Emsgard who both emphasized the importance of strengthening Greek-Swedish cooperation at a defining moment for Europe.
In his keynote address, Mr. Thanasis Kontogeorgis highlighted Greece’s strong reform momentum, improving competitiveness, and the government’s commitment to ensuring that growth is both resilient and inclusive. He underscored that, as negotiations begin for the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034), Europe must strike the right balance between global competitiveness and territorial cohesion.
He also noted the deep and longstanding ties between Greece and Sweden, built on shared values of democracy, openness, innovation, and sustainability, and emphasized the important contribution of Swedish companies to investment, technological progress, and job creation in Greece.
The discussion offered valuable insights into Greece’s strategic priorities and the opportunities emerging across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, digital transformation, innovation, and regional development.
