The 1st Greece-Sweden Business Forum was an unprecedented success with over 200 senior professionals attending the event. Former Prime Minister of Sweden Mr. Göran Persson was the guest of honor and main speaker at the event, while key note speakers included Greek Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogiannis, and the Swedish Ambassador to Greece, Mrs. Charlotte Wrangberg. The discussions focused on strengthening tourism development between the two countries, developing stronger commercial relations in the export product industry of Greece and promoting green technologies for a cleaner environment. The Chairman of the Hellenic-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Mr. John D. Saracakis, in his opening speech at the Forum discussed the relations between the two countries, stressing that:
“We organized this Forum in order to emphasize the dynamics of the Greek economy, in particular in the fields of Tourism and the Green Economy. There are many investment opportunities that we have not yet explored mainly due to the crisis. These areas can be an effective cooperation with Sweden during the coming years. The Chamber will continue to encourage the building of bridges of cooperation, facilitating contacts between the two sides. “
The Forum was concluded with an official gala dinner at the Grande Bretagne ballroom featuring key members of the Greek-Swedish business community.
The Forum was organized with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization. Gold sponsor was Ericsson whilst Astra Zeneka, The Grekland Panorama by Noth Events, Noisis, Scania – Petros Petropoulos S.A., Saracakis Group of Companies, SKF and the Union of Hoteliers of Chania in Crete island also sponsored the Forum.
