Annual Dinner

Hellenic-Swedish Chamber

Annual Dinner

This year’s Annual Dinner was combined with the 2nd Business Forum Greece-Sweden. 100 Members and friends of the Hellenic-Swedish Chamber participated at the Annual Dinner which was held at the King George Hotel on December 3, 2015 with Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker the former Minister for Fiscal & Financial of Sweden, Mr. Bo Lundgren.

Having experienced twice a crisis management situation, the Minister for Treasury and Budget as well as Minister for Fiscal  & Financial Affairs of Sweden, Mr. Bo Lundgren, stated that in a period of crisis there should be cuts in spending and the government should focus in achieving viable budgetary levels. He pointed out that the Swedish crone has been depreciated several times even up to 60%, in order to maintain inflation to a low level, while a reduction of 50% to the rates of taxation has been approved, which ended up to a final reduction of 30%. The next step was the reduction of social security contributions together with pension cuts.
At the same time, there has been a dramatic change in corporate borrowing; with the new manner of borrowing, middle sized companies could borrow money with the same, low level interests that larger companies could borrow up to this time. Today there is such an evolution, that the process for the establishment of a company can be done even by telephone.
